||Welcome to this introduction to the history of an ancient place, once described as ‘The Queen of Villages’ by the poet James Montgomery.
WCHG was established in 1979 to generate an interest in the history of Wath Upon Dearne and its locality. To that end we have met quarterly since 1979, typically featuring an illustrated presentation with a clear emphasis on Wath.
During 2019 topics covered: Life and death in West Melton before 1914; Wath between the wars 1919-1939; Wath in the Second World War, the armed services.

February 20 Wath in the Second World War: The Home Front.
April 23 Fruit of the Web, more unexpected tales of Wath.
July 23 Wath Hall: Ancient & Modern.
